Position: Arts and Community Engagement Intern 

Dates: Jan - April  2024

Time Commitment: 8 hours/week

Compensation: $500 stipend

 

Conexión Américas seeks qualified candidates for the position of the Arts and Community Engagement Intern for our upcoming exhibition, Recetas para la Vida. The Intern will support social media, written communications, and gallery curation of the project and exhibition, Recetas para la Vida, which will be open from March-June 2025. The internship will run from January - April 2024, and a $500 stipend will be awarded at the end of this four-month internship. The intern must have access to reliable transportation. The intern will work in person at the Conexión Américas’ office, located at Casa Azafrán and be able to work occasional evening and weekend hours.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Assists in coordinating the logistics of the Recetas para la Vida exhibition opening reception
  • Supports the​ ​installation​ ​of​ Recetas para la Vida ​art​work ​in​ ​the​ ​gallery
  • Coordinates with the marketing team and contributes to Recetas para la Vida ​marketing​ ​materials​ ​with​ ​the Development Manager (including social media, blog posts, and short videos)
  • Supports the curation of the Recetas para la Vida exhibition including written text, color scheme, and facilitation of a cohesive story
  • Facilitates 2 Recetas para la Vida Open Houses
  • Coordinates photoshoot scheduling between the photographer & 20 community participants involved in the exhibition
  • Assist with grant documentation and receipt requirements

 

Qualifications (Education and Experience):

  • Ideal for undergraduate or graduate students, as well as graduates with experience or studies related to the visual arts, communications, museum studies, or related fields
  • Excellent​ ​written​ ​and​ ​oral​ ​communication skills; bilingualism in English and Spanish a plus

  • exibility,​ ​creativity,​ ​initiative​ ​and​ ​ability​ ​to​ ​work​ ​as​ ​a member of a diverse​ ​team​
  • Demonstrated​ ​appreciation​ ​for​ ​Latino​ ​culture​ ​and​ ​families,​ ​as​ ​well​ ​as​ ​other immigrant​ ​and​ ​refugee​ ​groups
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb a ladder, and carry artwork
  • Has reliable transportation
  • Availability some weekends and evenings
