We need your help to guide the future leaders of Nashville.

Our Escalera Program began this spring with 37 juniors representing 11 native languages at Glencliff High School.  It is our mission to lead these bilingual, bicultural students to a college education.

This is where we need you.

We want to introduce the students to professional work settings through an unpaid summer internship that features job shadowing and mentorships with local businesses and nonprofit agencies in Nashville. Do you, or someone you know, have time and interest in helping first-generation college applicants with learning the importance, and benefits, of work experience this summer?

Escalera is a program developed by the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) – the nation’s largest Latino advocacy and civil rights group – and we believe hands-on, on-site training will help them make informed career decisions.  We hope to place students at their job sites from June 9, 2014 – July 18, 2014. About 12-16 hours a week would be a great investment in their futures!

If you are interested, please contact Laura Delgado, at laura@www.conexionamericas.org, with the following information:

  • Your name
  • The nature of your work (i.e. financial, law, medicine, arts, etc.)
  • Dates in June and/or July you are available
  • The number of hours per week you can host a student to job-shadow or intern.

The deadline for this opportunity is May 15, 2014. Thank you for helping our students take steps to success.
