At Conexión Américas, civic engagement is one of our longtime organizational pillars and values. Every year, Conexión Américas attends the General Assembly at Cordell Hull where staff and program participants meet with legislators on topics affecting the Latinx community and all Tennesseans. Knowing who represents you is a vital aspect of our democratic system that transcends nationality or status. It is important to know the people who make decisions on our behalf, ensuring that diverse voices and perspectives are heard. By actively participating in this process, we collectively shape the future, foster transparency and hold our elected leaders accountable, making democracy work for everyone.
VOTING
When we vote, we help to elect leaders who will advocate for our interests and values, and we contribute to the collective direction of our society. By participating in the democratic process, we ensure that our government remains accountable, responsive, and truly representative of the diverse voices that live in our nation.
Visit https://www.govotetn.com for the most updated information about voting in Tennessee. It’s the easiest way for Tennessee voters to find their Election Day polling locations, view and mark sample ballots, see their elected officials, districts and county election commission information as well as access online election results through the GoVoteTN app.
For our amigos casting their ballots in Davidson County, please visit the Nashville Election Commission website for more county-specific information.
You should always know your voting rights before casting your ballot. Learn more about how to exercise your voting rights from the ACLU’s comprehensive voting rights guide.
Remember that under federal law, voters who have difficulty reading or writing English may receive in-person assistance at the polls from the person of their choice. You can bring a family member, friend, or other person of your choice to assist you at the polls. This person cannot be the voter’s employer, an agent of the voter’s employer, or an agent or officer of the voter’s union.
Call 1-888-VE-Y-VOTA / 1-888-839-8682 for voter assistance in Spanish.
Conexión Américas continues to work with our partners to advocate for a welcoming Tennessee and inclusive policies at the local state and national levels. Some of our efforts are outlined below.
