The Casa Azafrán Art Gallery is a community centered art gallery which opens space for Latinx and immigrant origin artists to share their voices, perspectives and art. It also features community-led  art that explores issues of relevance to the immigrant community around belonging and identity.

Each year, with the support of our sponsors, Conexión Américas hosts three art exhibitions, one curated and created by program participants, and two featuring the work of guest artists. These exhibitions not only provide a platform for often underrepresented artists to present and sell their work, but also showcase the broad talents of Nashville’s immigrant community.

Conexión Américas is thrilled to announce an open call for community participants (November 1, 2024 – December 1, 2024 at 5:00 PM) for the ‘Recetas para la Vida’ exhibition. This project and exhibition, which will open at the Casa Azafrán art gallery in March 2025, is made possible with support from the Tennessee Arts Commission. Applications are open to community members ages 18+ in the Metro Nashville area.

Recetas para la Vida (Recipes for Life), will utilize photography, storytelling, and the art of cooking to explore the identities, histories, families, and stories of love of Nashville’s diverse Latino community. By telling stories, through cooking and sharing life lessons learned in the kitchen, we will be invited to explore the diverse “Latinidad” of Nashville’s Latinx community. Current Display: “Callejera” by Tania Crescencio

The Casa Azafrán Art Gallery is excited to present our Hispanic Heritage Month featured exhibition “Callejera” by guest artist Tania Crescencio. Born in Ciudad de México, Tania Crescencio Transito was brought to the United States very young. Tania was raised in Antioch, Tennessee, and there she learned about her artistic capabilities. Tania is a first-generation college graduate and a daughter of immigrants. Although she studied fine art, she saw a need for advocates in her community and developed a passion for advocacy. Tania has since combined both design and advocacy in her work which you can see in her exhibition “Callejera”, which translates to street walker, or wanderer. This exhibition reflects the experiences and personal journey of a young designer being raised in the streets of  South Nashville. Tania strives to help Black and Brown communities and sees herself continuing the fight for radical inclusion while showcasing her artistic abilities.

Casa Azafrán will display the exhibition “Callejera” by Tania Crescencio in the gallery September 20 – December 6, 2024, so drop by to experience her inspiring photography, three-dimensional artwork, and graphic design.
