One of our most requested programs is English classes. Every week we host multiple classes in the morning and at night full of parents who want to engage more with their children’s education, workers who want to pursue better job opportunities, and entrepreneurs who want to grow their businesses.
And as generations of immigrants become woven into the fabric of Nashville we see more Latinos who are fully bilingual and even generations who no longer speak Spanish. In their special edition on Latinos in the U.S., The Economist profiled the path from Spanish to English for Latino immigrants, showing that by the second and third generations over 90% of Latinos are confident in English, and mentioned that Conexión Américas has a waiting list for our English classes. Every week we continue to welcome the parents, the workers, the strivers as they embrace the opportunities that speaking English offers.
