Conexión Américas is thrilled to announce an open call for community participants (November 1, 2024 – December 1, 2024 at 5:00 PM) for the ‘Recetas para la Vida’ exhibition. This project and exhibition, which will open at the Casa Azafrán art gallery in March 2025, is made possible with support from the Tennessee Arts Commission. Applications are open to community members ages 18+ in the Metro Nashville area.

Recetas para la Vida (Recipes for Life), will utilize photography, storytelling, and the art of cooking to explore the identities, histories, families, and stories of love of Nashville’s diverse Latino community. By telling stories, through cooking and sharing life lessons learned in the kitchen, we will be invited to explore the diverse “Latinidad” of Nashville’s Latinx community.

Community participants are invited to submit:

 1) A family recipe and

 2) A personal life lesson (a receta para la vida) discovered from inside the kitchen.

20 life recipe submissions will be selected to be included in the exhibition, including a photo of the selected community participants cooking the recipe in their kitchen, taken by the exhibition photographer. The 20 selected community participants will be given a $50 stipend.
